Electronics - Computer Power Cord
« on: May 18, 2006, 04:01:59 AM »
Does anyone have any experience buying a power cord for their laptop computer that will fit into UK outlets?

My compaq laptop has a cord that runs from the laptop to an ac adapter and then a second cord that runs from the ac adapter to the wall outlet.

I am interested in replacing only the cord going to the outlet since I already have a dual voltage outlet.  I can leave the one configured for US outlets at home.   I do acknowledge the option of buying an adapter for the wall outlet and bringing the US wire with me.

Thanks

You can buy the cord that goes from the ac adapter to the wall at any computer store here in the UK (ie PC World or Currys). Can't remember how much it cost but I'm guessing it was around 15-25 GBP.

I would hope it's gold plated for that price!

£2 to £3 would be more the mark, maybe £5 or £6 at most.
