Plug converters
« on: May 29, 2006, 02:31:04 PM »
I'm moving in from Germany, and the electronics are 220 volt but have a different plug than the UK I understand...Does anyone know if I can bring these things (fridge, transformers, etc.) and just use a plug adapter?  Thanks!!

You should be fine unless you have something especially old or esoteric.   The declared 220, 230, or 240V supplies are only nominal levels and can vary by several percent during the course of a day anyway.  (And officially, both Germany and the U.K. are now 230V, even though in practice we're mostly still 220 and 240V respectively.)

Just about all modern equipment sold within Europe will operate on 220 to 240V nominal supplies.
