In the U.S. they are not quite in season yet. They are $7.99 a pound.
I'll wait another couple of weeks.

I usually do splurge once or twice on the Ranier variety.

Wow.. I thought $4.99 a pound was bad here in Michigan.  But I'm sure they will be much more expensive when I get back home.
Only Time will tell.. it's just too bad she's a closed mouth B**!!!

Well I found some cherries!!  Went to the fish mongers today and they had some fresh cherries.  Price was reasonable, 2.39/lb.  Yippie.  Thanks for all the advice, getting away from the chain supermarkets was the key to finding cherries that didn't cost a fortune!!

I wanted to buy cherries at the green grocer, but he was packing up his stuff... I could SEE the cherries in his van, but no he wouldn't sell them to me. Man, talk about poor customer service. He did let me buy some yummy plums in a bowl still on the counter. I don't get it, two steps in the van and he could have made another sale.  ::)
