Slurpees
« on: August 18, 2007, 06:33:56 PM »
So the last few days I've had the most massive craving for a coca cola slurpee from 7-11. I know I'm not alone as my sister has been the same (she lives in South Korea) and she can't find them, even on the military base. Has anyone had any luck in finding slurpees here? Or anything remotely slurpee like? I've been wondering if I should try and make a slurpee at home even, but have no idea where to start.

Some of the convenience shops have slushy machines. Might not be as thick as a slurpee though.

Here's a recipe for a cherry one, might have to find some substitutes though.

I used to love those!

Can you make your own?  Freeze the soda then use the blender?

I think the actual slurpees are made with syrup, using soda might not be as strong a flavor. I used to love the Dr. Pepper ones.

Freeze a Coke (though not in the can!); it's pretty much the same thing.

Yes, it is the bubbles that make a Slurpee different, so you would have to freeze soda I think.  http://www.slate.com/id/2126309/

Thanks for the links. I'll have to set about making one of my own now.
