How much are you wanting to bring?

I would think a couple of cans of different stuff is ok...not pallet loads or anything....

what do you want that you can't get here?????????

and is it worth the shipping cost......

you can use this link:

http://importdetails.defra.gov.uk/Default.aspx?Location=None&Module=IDDSearch

this will tell you what you can/can't bring.  meats, fruit, veg, dairy, etc.

i think generally speaking the link above is for people who are traveling abroad on holiday and not necessarily for those that are moving to the UK.  but i'm sure that regardless of the situation, you aren't "supposed" to bring them.

hope that helps.

ooops.  just reading that link and I think I have brought some of these things back!  Espedially beef jerky as dh loves it.  But it was never homemade jerky. I didn't realize how much you COULD actually bring back!

Anyone know the link for the going the other way?  What can be taken to the USA? Isn't the U.S. much stricter?

Here is a link for the prohibited and restricted items into the US:

http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/vacation/kbyg/prohibited_restricted.xml

it pretty much covers everything....food, drugs, clothes, cars, alcohol, plants/seeds, etc.

No idea what you're wanting to bring in.... but, my experience:

I had no trouble bringing in cat food.  I told customs that I had it, too.  I imagine you'd have no problems with baby food.

(I spent some time looking for vegetarian cat food in Tokyo before we came here... nada.)
