non stop or connected flights?
« on: June 17, 2006, 06:48:46 AM »
hi everyone...just a quick ???? I've been looking at airline tickets and well the only non stop flight from Denver to London is on British airways which of course goes to Heathrow...but I found another flight that connects to Minn from Denver to gatewick...I was wondering if any of you had any difficulties taking your dogs on a connected flight instead of taking them on a non stop flight (granted non stop would be best I think)..I'm a worry wort when it comes to my boys  :) thx for the help and advice everyone!!!

My cat and I flew non-stop.  If I had a choice, there's no way I'd fly anything but a non-stop flight and I wouldn't care about the ticket price.  I just wouldn't want the stress I'd feel wondering if my cat made it to the new plane.  Just my opinion.

Totally agree!!  We flew non stop from SF together to Heathrow.  No way I would have wanted her to deal with changing planes.

Can you do connecting flights on the PETS scheme?  I thought about flying my pets as baggage to an airport with a PETS approved route, then transferring them to cargo.  But I figured that we'd have to check in at cargo with their paperwork at the second airport.  And I couldn't handle getting them there on my own.  So we are driving 4 hours to get to an airport with a PETS approved route.

I flew a connecting flight once domestically with my dog and vowed never to do again.  We were delayed in our connecting city for 8 hours due to weather.  We weren't allowed to see him.  It was summer and it was hot and I was worried the whole time about him not having water.  I was completely panicked.  I made the ticket counter person call down to where they had him so I could talk to the guy who was watching him every 30 minutes.  Luckily they were very nice and understanding, but NEVER again!  Fly direct if you can.
