civil ceremony

Who here has had a civil ceremony? how did it go? can it just be you and ur husband to be? and if you got married in london, where in london to you have your ceremony? i just want to have mine at a registery office... but it seems like all the rooms there are for 20 or more ppl... i kinda just wanted it to be me and my guy.. no guests

You have to have witnesses... but apart from that, you dont have to have guests.

I had a civil ceremony but it was in Coventry not London. It was me, my husband and 4 guests, two of which who were acting as witness (you need have 2 people there to act as witnesses). You're not going to find a tiny room that you can just squeeze into for the ceremony. The room at Coventry was huge too (and quite lovely to boot) but since you'll be focusing on your husband anyway does the room size really matter?

I'd try asking on hitched.co.uk.  I'm sure someone there can suggest a lovely small civil venue for you.

does the witness have to be someone you know? or someone from the office?
