Okay, this might sound like an odd question, but -
Chris and I are planning to meet in NYC to apply for my fiancee visa in person sometime during the last week of August. He's already booked a ticket to spend the last week of August and the first week of September in the US, because orginally, I was going to move to the UK during the first week of September. Since we fell behind a bit in our planning and didn't get the blood tests done for the cats until April 1st, I've had to change my moving date to the first week of October (the cats will be cleared to fly as of October 1st).
Now, when we apply for the visa, we're planning to ask the officials to post-date it for October 1st, so that we have the full six months once I enter the UK to spend together before we get married. Chris just suggested that perhaps I might make a quick trip over to bring a load of my stuff in September at some point, so that all I really have to worry about when I fly over to stay will be one suitcase and the cats. I think that's a great idea, except - if my passport already has a fiancee visa in it, but that visa isn't yet valid, will I have trouble at immigration? Technically, I mean, I'd be there as a visitor anytime before October, and I'd hate to screw up my visa in any way by doing something "wrong" at this point. At the same time, I'm leery of traveling too much on the fiancee visa. I could have the visa post-dated to mid-September, travel over once to bring a load of stuff, then fly back to get the cats and say goodbye and leave for good, but would I have trouble getting back into the UK? I mean, I'd tell them, "hey, I had to go get my cats." I'm just nervous about travelling too much on the fiancee visa, even if it IS supposedly good for multiple entries - word on the street is that travelling on that visa isn't really recommended.
This post has turned out to be a bit more convoluted than I orginally intended....any advice would be appreciated, though!
