Thinking Ahead(Civil Partnership and FLR)
« on: July 17, 2006, 07:25:28 PM »
I really hope this isn't a totally stupid question.  Okay so once I am there, cp registered and all that, I can apply for the FLR.  I am assuming that I send that into the British Embassy correct?  Is there another visa charge?  Will I need to apply for one for my dependent?

Actually it is the IND of the Home Office at that point: http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/

You want to apply for and FRL-M.  The website contains all the information and forms that you need.

You won't be able to work until you have your FRL-M and you should not leave the country until you have your FRL-M.

Yes, you will need to apply for one for your dependent to change their to an FRL.

There is another charge.  It is £335 by post or £500 in person.
WARNING My thoughts and comments are entirely my own.  Especially when it comes to immigration and tax advice, I am not a professional.  My advice is to seek out professional advice.  Your mileage may vary!

That should be FLR(M), there is no FRL visa.  :)

This is on the basis that the CP ceremony takes place once in the UK, right? And one of you is a UK national and the other isn't, and the non UK nat has come in on a prospective CP visa (ie a fiancee visa)?

Yes.  After the CP (after the 7 day residence and 15 day period).  My gf is a UK national and I and my daughter are coming on the CP visa.
