Citizenship.. ??? Please answer if you know
« on: July 19, 2006, 02:53:37 PM »
Hello, I have had my ILR for 2 years now and have been married for 4 years. I have taken my citizenship knowledge test and am ready to apply for my citizenship.  My question is, when you send in the application for citizenship, does that get you your passport?  Or do you have to then wait for that to come back and then apply for your passport?  I am just wondering how long all this will take and how much money it will cost.  This country sucks the life out of you taxes and fee's wise.

I haven't been on this site for ages, so a reaquaintence Hello is in order.  Hope you are all well.

I just called about getting my citizenship as well.
For the Isle of Man the man said it cost £269.00 per person and I had to take a test.
Then once I had the piece of paper that said I was a Manx citizen I then could apply for a passport.

So I think the answer to your question is no you don't automatically get a passport along with it.

Hiya and welcome back!

You have to successfully naturalise first, then apply for a passport.

Waiting times to process the application vary - one poster here had her application approved in only 10 days!

Be aware that the US also charges for visas, naturalisation, etc.  Most countries do.  It's not exclusive to the UK.
