Open University
« on: July 24, 2006, 07:21:03 AM »
Hello. I'm not sure if this is best put in the Student Lounge, but I thought I'd post this question here. Has anyone had experience with taking courses through the Open University? I was supposed to start university in the UK this September, but due to my loans not coming through I still want to move and the Open University looks like a good way to at least make headway into my degree. I'm just curious if anyone has had experienc with it and what it's like. I'd ideally like to take some courses with the OU and then complete my degree at a regular uni after I have my residency and can pay lower fees. Any advice or comments on personal experiences would be wonderful.

Im starting my second year with the OU. I thought because it was distance learning it would be a 'cake walk' but I find it much more challenging then the normal 'brick' university.

I know a few people who've done BA and BSc's from OU...they found it challenging and rewarding. I'm looking into it as well, for some post graduate studies at some point  :)

Thank you so much for the replies. I couldn't get the funding to attend a traditional uni, so Open University seems a good start for me.
