Tube to Heathrow...
« on: July 19, 2006, 08:03:30 PM »
I've done this trip a couple of times on a weekend, but how bad can it be on a Thursday at 10am from Victoria in the heat? I am imagining the worst will be connecting to the Piccadilly in terms of crowds and heat but the rest is overground more or less. Can't be much worse than taking the coach? Or what am I not considering?? I have lots of patience, carry on luggage and a bottle of water.  ;) Thanks!!

It just takes time...  If you only have carry ons, I would go for it.  It is pretty cheap!

...and a hand held battery operated fan!
But no, from Victoria it should be fine... that side of the journey it's not likely there will be many people at that time.

Excellent! My flight is at 1:25pm and I am allowing lots of time to get there for the just in case situations!

Don't forget the bus replacement if you are going to T4...so leave extra time.

I never go by tube though..I know a few sneaky ways by overground, which are much nicer.

Hopefully they haven't moved Irish flights to Terminal 4...  ;)

I think they are still at the LONG LONG LONG LONG walk in Terminal One.  Of course when I was going Chicago to Dublin, it was mixed blessings.  Transferring from 3 to 1 was a nice walk, but I always did worry if I would make it.

For future reference, in case it can help someone else, you don't have to do the bus transfer for T4. Just get off for one of the other terminals (I think we got off for T3) and if you don't mind walking there is an underpass. I think we did have one segment on the train that is going to London, but it is free to go from one terminal to the next within the airport (at least when we did it last Nov.). The bus transfer sucks big-time
Stop waiting. Start doing.

thanks for the handy tips... all went well and I had loads of time to spare. Irish flights are still in Terminal 1 and not a horrible transfer from the tube.  ;D
