Spousal and/or Fiance Visa Needed to Ship Household Goods?
« on: July 30, 2006, 08:51:04 PM »
Hi all:

Quick question for those of you who have moved...I have my house up for sale (not getting married till Feb '07 in the states) and depending upon when it sells, if it happens before we get married then I want to ship all my stuff as we have a flat already - did you have to show your passport with the fiance and/or spousal visa when you shipped stuff or just your passport? Many thanks!!

I don't think you need anything to ship your stuff. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah I don't see why you'd need to show anything to ship things.  I sure didn't.

All they wanted from me was a copy of my passport. They didn't care about the visa (or my husband's UK passport).
Stop waiting. Start doing.

Same here, a copy of the identify page of my passport and my passport number is going to go with the HM Customs documentation.  Obviously based on what you are moving, it will be clear if you are moving a one time household which is exempt from taxes and duty.

Thanks everyone for the information. I didn't think a visa was needed, but one never knows.

They didn't ask to see my passport or visa.  think on the forms I put something to the effect of "moving household goods prior to settling on fiancee visa" or something.
