Possibly moving home.
« on: October 24, 2006, 06:45:45 PM »
Hello,

If anyone could help me, I would just like some advise on what I'm supposed to do.

Currently, my husband(who's British) and I(I'm American) are living here in the UK. On my visas, I've been living here for over 2 years. At the moment I have my ILR and have had it for several months now. Recently my husband and I have been discussing the possibilities of moving to America. It wouldn't be until late next year or early/mid 2008, as we are saving money and paying off our loan.

The thing is, I feel like I'm going in circles when it comes to asking people for help. So many stories and I don't know which ones are true. And after reading some of these threads, I see there are a couple ways of going about this. Any suggestions or advise on what would be the best way for us to do this would be VERY appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Melissa  :)

P.S. - If we started the process of getting his green card now and it was completed before we wanted to leave, could we still stay here until we were ready to leave. Which would be the dates I stated above.

Hi again Mel, my husband and I are moving back in 2008.  Waiting to get my ILR so we can file DCF for his visa.  Loads of great info on www.diveintoamerica.com, lots of nice people too! :)

Sorry this reply is so late. :) That forum is a really good one so you'll get loads of info there... sounds like you'll have a pretty easy straight-forward time doing the DCF process which laods of us have done and isn't as bad as it might seem. :)
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

We are in the same "boat" as you. We are thinking about it within a year or so. The thing is that we co-own a house with my in-laws (husband sister and her husband) and it needs a lot of DIY done to it. And our plans to move are on hold until the house is done to sell.
Never say good bye with tears....just say see ya later with a smile........
