UK fee

Hi all,

We are moving to England as soon as our house sells, not sure whether it will be 2 months or 6 months but on Monday we are starting the process for our Golden Retriever, Clyde, to come with us.

I've been reading all the posts and found it so helpful, at first we were going to use a company to help with everything but that was almost $4,000 and didn't include shots.

Anyway, my question is about the UK fee, I've seen that mentioned a couple of times and am just wondering about that.  Is that something you pay here before you arrive or something that's done when you land or when you book their flight ticket?

I flew on British Air from San Francisco to Heathrow and it was included in my dogs ticket.  I think other airlines do not include the UK fee in the ticket cost.

If you fly virgin (like I did with my 2 cats from the US) they're probably going to quote you 220£ (and a handling fee--the handling fee is virgins, and although virgin takes the 220£, that actually gets the animal(s) cleared throught he Animal Reception Center...
