Parking Permits

I'm moving to Bath in September and some of the places I'm looking at state that parking permits are required. I'm not going to have a car, so it's not a huge deal, but what if I have friends coming in to town with a car or if I decide to rent a car for a weekend or so? Is the information on the parking permit affiliated with the actual car or is it something that I can give guests to use when they're visiting? How much does a typical parking permit cost and where do you go to get one?

The local council issues them and you can get a temporary one if need be but your guests probably won't be able to have one at all because they are only for local residents.  You'd need to find a long stay car park for them.   I would check Bath council's website for exact details.

It appears to be £60 per year in the central zone and £55 elsewhere in the city, and you can have two vehicle license numbers on the permit:
