Info about voter registration
« on: August 13, 2006, 03:11:16 AM »
Hi All,
One big question that I came across when I started researching everything I had to do for our move to the UK was, what about my voter registration?! Especially because jury duty pulls from that, and I was afraid that it might still call me even though I wasn't living there, but I still wanted to be able to vote in at least the presidential elections, so what do I do? Well, tonight while browsing through web sites, I found a wonderful web site that might help people looking for answers about what to do about registering to vote as a US citizen living overseas. Here is the link: http://www.fvap.gov/index.html

It is a little hard to find things at first, but basically, you want to print out the FPCA form (you can do it as a pdf, or they will mail it to you). http://www.fvap.gov/pubs/onlinefpca.html
or here is the link to the actual PDF: http://www.fvap.gov/pubs/onlinefpca.pdf

Once you have the form, you can go to this page: http://www.fvap.gov/pubs/vag/vagchapter3.html
and it gives you state by state instructions on how to fill it out and where to mail it to. Just click on the state where you were last a legal resident of and that is it! Just fill it out and mail it in and you are done. You should automatically get sent absentee ballots and the like.
The web site has other information which I have not had time to read lately, but it might be worth a look for those of you who were wondering the same thing as me!
