Heathrow arrival terminal
« on: August 26, 2006, 05:13:00 AM »
Okay, according to Heathrow's website, all international arrivals end up coming out in Terminal 1.  However, I was looking at the maps and it's Terminal 2 that was looking the most familiar to me - every time I've flown in, I've come out the same way & Terminal 2 is sticking in my memory.  I'll be flying in Virgin, but I doubt this makes a difference.

It's driving me crazy!  Can anyone help?  And I need to know so I can book a taxi for coming out of the right one :-[.

Everything I read says I am flying into terminal 4, maybe I am wrong?

I've always flown into Heathrow 1 when flying Virgin (which is what I fly most often) - things may have changed since last March, but my fiance is flying Virgin *from* Heathrow on Sunday, so I'll check and see what's going on. :)

Okay, according to Heathrow's website, all international arrivals end up coming out in Terminal 1.

Where did you read this?

According to this site http://www.airwise.com/airports/europe/LHR/LHR_01.html (and my experience), the terminal you arrive at is dependent upon what airline you are flying and where you are flying from.

If I'm not mistaken I always have gone through Terminal 3 (might have to recheck that with Adam but I swear it was). Like Courtney said it depends on what airline you fly and where you are coming from and if you have a pit stop it's usually your second leg they count as the place you are coming from...like mine is usually NY.

Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.

Where are you coming from? Virgin flights from LAX go to terminal 3.

But doesn't everyone come out the same way?  I mean, once you go through immigration, baggage claim, & customs, isn't there only ONE spot in the airport for that - and then you come out in international arrivals?  Or am I totally off-base? (and what terminal is this in???  aghhh, I think I'm just confusing myself here)

Heathrow has 4 terminals. Each terminal has its own immigration & customs clearance and its own arrivals hall. So no, everyone doesn't come out in the same place.  If someone is meeting you they will need to know what terminal to come to. The airline can tell you which terminal you're arriving into.

Some airports *are* like that, but Heathrow isn't one of them, it's all totally separate and divided up by terminal.

And I just checked- the Heathrow website says Virgin flights to Washington Dulles depart from Terminal 3 (so maybe that's the arrival terminal as well?)

I know that when i've flown Virgin from Edinburgh to Heathrow then on to Boston.. I arrive from Edinburgh at Terminal One have to take the bus to terminal three and then leave from Heathrow to Boston from Terminal Three then the reverse on the return. I think it all depends where the flight to/from Heathrow originates in the UK or outside of it. Not positive tho..

With BA going to/from BWI or Dulles it's terminal 4.

This is a link to the Heathrow Airport arrivals information:

http://www.heathrow-airport-guide.co.uk/flight-arrivals.html

Your flight most likely arrives into Terminal 3.

Okay, so upon much inspection and scrutinizing of the maps, I have concluded that I am completely delusional.  LOL, no actually, I was printing out my itenerary this morning and there it was - Terminal 3!  Gee, I shoulda looked there earlier :P. So I went and looked at T3's map and it's always hard to tell from maps, but it looks about right from what my memory is giving me.  I guess I'm just going crazy?  I've also flown into Heathrow on several different airlines (American, Virgin, United), but always come OUT the same way, so I just assumed that this was the universal "international arrivals" area.

Thanks guys!  Problem solved.  Now just to figure out the best time to have the taxi meet me, so I don't get charged huge waiting fees ::).

before you book, ask if the taxi company will check whether your flight is on time. I know this is how I've done it in the past because friends recommended it to me. or have a friend check your flight online and have them confirm your flight arrival with the taxi.
