wanna be with my baby
« on: February 04, 2004, 04:41:19 AM »
Basically I have a problem that alot of people have...  I am a male in love with a woman who lives in England.  We met in Rome about a year and a half ago.  She has been on and off living here in Los Angeles (coming in and flying back every three months).  Now, we figure, it is time for me to give jolly ol' England a try.  The thing is, we don't really want to get married at this point just because we're young and we want it to be special and not for the sake of Visa.  What to do?  I know their are options like Unmarried couples, two year visa (without work permit), school, etc.  For now, I am planning to save money and go there for six months.  But what happens after six months?
What the hell is wrong with just wanting to be with the woman you love anymore?  I swear these trans-atlantic relationships are just so darn hard sometimes...

You're right. Its no fair. Although Martin and I love each other and wanted to get married I think we would have waited for a while before jumping into it because I needed to stay. I know exactly where youre coming from.

Perhaps get a visa to go to school there (if youre of that age) or try and look for work. If you try and stay on a tourist visa they'll give you a hard time unless you have loads of money. Eventually they'll start grilling you because of your multiple long stays. Saying that, it ISNT *impossible* to stay for the length of your tourist visa on multiple occasions. Just be well prepared.

If you wanted to try for a work visa, try networking with your girlfriend. Maybe she knows someone who can get/give you a job.
