Go early - dress WARMLY - bring snacks - bring a folding/camping chair if you can (they're about £3 in Wilkinson) - bring something to read - bring everything and then some that you will need for your FLR (I assume that's what you're going for) - don't worry - treat yourself at the Subway down the street afterwards!

Been there twice - survived both times!  The hardest part is the waiting... [smiley=sleeping2.gif]

Dress more warmly than you think you'll want to, and for God's sake don't do what I did and wear silly shoes! You may end up standing a loooong time. Wear good tennis shoes or something. Doing it over, I would have brought a big thermos with coffee or hot chocolate in it, rather than making David go and get some, because every time he left the line moved and he had to phone me to see where I was in line. :)

And good luck!!!

Get there before 7 am if you can and be prepared for a long wait, take snacks, books etc etc like everyone says. Once you get seen it only takes about 10 minutes. We were there in August and afterwards found a pub down the road with an American barmaid but of course now I can't remember the name of the place can I sorry!

ps if you have changed your name remember to sign your married name not your maiden name like I did!

I'll echo what everyone else says:  dress comfortably and warmly, go as early as you can stand to prior to 7 AM to queue up, bring snacks, sammies, drinks, whatever and change for the vending machines if you run out.  Definitely bring a good book or two and anything else you don't mind doing for hours on end (knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, etc).  And don't forget all your paperwork and your passport. :)  I would also warn against line jumpers as well.  When we went, there was a young lady who tried to jump in front of us and several other people.  I wasn't having it and neither were some other folks.  Just a word of caution.

Hope it goes well!!!!

So it happens there too huh ;D.....This sounds like Boston this past Wednesday morning. Up at 5:a.m with the wife, out the door at 6:a.m, drove to the train station, took the tube into Boston to the Federal Building, ( it's still pitch black out and colder than a well diggers ars*) scale the stairs to the entrance thinking that we've beat the masses only to discover some 300 people in line waiting for the doors to open at 7:a.m., take our place in line and join the rest of the cattle, some waiting in line since 5:30a.m....then it starts, and you can almost hear what theyre saying to themselves  when the stragglers start showing up...."Oh, this is the line?", "I think I'll just feign ignorance and go right to the front"...needless to say it did'nt work. I must have seen at least 10 arguements break out in the span of an hour because of it. (hijack over) ;D

oh it went great peedal!!  Only two hours in the cold.  ;D
I got to the line at 7 and was in by 9 and out by 10 and home by 12.  :D  Gee was I a happy camper.  My new hubby was so helpful.  They started asking for bank statement and we said we don't need them we already did all the stuff with the fiance visa.  Then she says we have to fill out this section that we didn't and he said no it says we don't because we have the fiance visa. She said she hadn't done one of the forms like ours in a while.   He whispered to me gee she needs me to come in there and do her job for her. lol  I told him to behave.  ;D  All we needed was the marriage license and the passports. Was so glad it was easy and fast.  Thanks for helping to calm my fears guys. (((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))

That's great!  Sounds like it was painless.  Now you don't have to worry about going there again for another two years... ;)

You must have had the same lady I had, lol!!! I also had to remind her that we didn't need to fill out a huge portion of the paperwork, or prove loads of other stuff because we had already DONE all that, she looked confused, went back and asked someone if I was right, then came back, stamped me, and sent me off! :)
