I don't know where else to ask this, but...
« on: January 15, 2004, 06:40:59 AM »
Now that I'm stuck out here in the US and hubby is still back in London waiting for the visa...

Does anyone know of a good long distance calling card or provider in general, calling from a US cellphone to the UK (either to a UK landline or UK cell...sorry MOBILE! ;)) Something similar to Planet Talk that I had in London to call the US??

I have a good rate at home from the landline to the UK, but I don't want to pay the .35/min from my cell through AT&T to call Laurie at home in London!

I realize many of you are still in the UK, but if anyone can give me any input, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!  :)

Dont quite remember the rates but I used to call the UK on Eckerd Drug Store cards (AT&T) but found Target Cards to be the best. Both were very good for mobile phones tho.

I bought my cards at 7-Eleven.  I told my mom to pick up a card for us when we came over last time so we could call Phil's parents when we arrived and throughout the trip, and she found the 7-Eleven card was still the best deal, compared to Walgreens and Target and Wal-Mart.

Oh I do! I do!  I was just talking with the ladies in the chatroom about this yesterday.  I love and swear by onesuite.com  It's a no catch phone card company that you buy cards on the internet from.  Well, you don't get an actual card, but you get an access number to dial from and then you get your pin number.  You can even set it up so that all you have to do is call the access number then the number you're calling to (without having to put in your pin number, which saves one step).  Anyhow, there's no maintenance fee or connection charge, which is a problem I had with most other discount companies.

The only big drawback I've found is that you can only use their cards for calls that originate in the US, which means I'm always the one calling over to Scotland.  But, I suppose it is a minor drawback.  I get a rate of 2.5 cents per minute from the Midwest to Scotland....so it's cheaper to call my fiance than it is to call my parents who live only five hours away.

I've used this calling card company for more than a year and am still pleased with them.  (And no I don't represent them or work for them...just really happy to be able to afford long phone calls to my man.) ;D ;)
