Paint?
« on: September 29, 2006, 09:32:22 AM »
Where's the best place to buy inexpensive paint?  We have a HomeBase nearby, but that's the only store I can think of that would carry paint (no B&Q remotely close).  Are there others I don't know about?  We're a bunch of student looking to brighten up our house with a little color (white walls, white furniture, white appliances, ACK!!).  In America, sometimes you can score great deals with the "reject" cans - is there anything like this in the UK?

And how much does it usually cost? (average, mind you)

Totem Timber, Wickes and ifyou just want basic paint... Wilkenson's.

Our Totem Timber carries run of the mill contracter white and cream paint.  £9 for a huge tub.. maybe 10 liters?

Be forewarned though that it is crap paint.  We wound up using it as a base coat and then putting a nicer layer on top.  But if you have white walls then I guess that's moot.

You can find dented tins and discountinued colors at most DIY stores.  Also keep an eye out for Homebase's 10% off sale.  They do them every few months and everything in the store is 10% off.  Every little bit helps!

Tesco has paint also. Im not quite sure of the cost but I would think they would be cheaper than the DIY stores.
