I work out at home with weights... lunges, squats, sit ups, push ups etc.  6 weeks show results, but give yourself 3 months and you WILL see a difference.  I usually measure myself instead of weighing and seeing how my clothes fit really shows the difference!  8)

an aerobic cycling class where you're ina room with 20 others being led by an instructor

you change the resistance for climbs, sprints, get up off the bike.  sometimes remove the seat!

it is HARD but spppppp addicting

Spinning also is usually done with music and in the case of my gym, with the lights turned off and only black lighting on. It gives you a way to really let go and lose yourself in the workout since no one can really see you (if you're self conscious). My fave instructor makes her classes really fun by picking cheesy music you can sing along to and the time just FLIES!

There is a lot more you can do with a bike than you'd think. Some songs are 'sprints' where you use a low wheel resistance and pedal as fast as you can. Other songs you will put a ton of resistance on, and stand up and pedal very slowly. You can do 'jumps' by sitting and standing in rapid succession. You can work your upper body by doing push ups on the handle bars. You can work on strength/balance by pedaling without moving anything but your feet (harder than it sounds). Etc, etc.

I was sceptical about it initially, but am a complete convert. It's the only thing that makes me really sweat and I feel so energized afterwards!

I do recommend investing in a gel seat cover if you plan on doing it regularly though to make it easier on your....errr......bits.  ;D

I've just turned 50, and worked out my entire adult life -- won't miss more than a couple of days (if sick).  And I have to say that it's the way to go.  YOu will look younger, feel fantastic, and have so much energy.

It's funny, but when I meet new people, I'm surprised I ask what they do for a workout and they say that they don't.  EVER!  It's just one piece of life for me, like eating, sleeping, bathing . . .  seems unthinkable that someone doesn't do anything along that line.  I would feel wretched if I didn't work out and eat well.

I leave for work at 7:10 each morning, and get home at 6:00 each evening.  Wish I could stay home all day and do nothing but sit around on UKY!  What a life!  And I have no Internet access in my classroom, so I can't just stop teaching and surf UKY.  Can you believe it??  Horrid, my job!

well it's been 16 days since i started working out. (and doing WW as well)

I've lost half a pound.  :P

but i have DEFINATELY lost inches.

My waist is back, my legs are firmer....so i am going to not get on the scale for a few days and forget about it!

After a body pump class last night, it is onto spinning today at lunch!

So after this thread, I felt inspired to put some squats & lunges into my workout yesterday.

I can barely walk today :P...
