HOw long to get passport back?

Just sent my passport , to passport office to have it updated with my married name, how long did it take you to get yours back if you have done this recently??

Going to see hubby at xmas, so want to make sure it will be back in time.

It only took 1-2 weeks 'til I got mine back when I did this in August.

wow , pretty quick then , must be because our details are already ont he system. Hope i get it back soon.

oh wow, just posted my last post and it got delivered, 8 days.

My old passport with visa attached has not arrived yet, will that come normal post with it being cancelled along with my marraige certificate??

I am not understanding this.  Are you British or American?  (Wondering if the British authorities may do this differently, 'cause I'm American.)  With my name change in the passport, everything got sent back to me together - the new passport, the old cancelled passport (with the visa), and the marriage certificate.  Of course, this was dealing with the American consulate in London.

I don't think they would send it back separately, I would give the passport office a call.

They did come back seperatly, it came teh same day as my new passprt , but my daughter picke dup the post and put it behind a picture in the hall ,.so i did not see it. My old passport with the visa in came with my marriage certificate.

So i can stop panicing lol!
