Any English Premier League fans here?

Wondering if there were any other 'EPL' fans that use this forum considering it was how I ended up coming to England in the first place and now that I've just moved over, figured I'd find out what other Americans think of it.  Who do you support?  Any particular reasons why?

Hey Mike ... been here long enough to have appreciated the EPL. Still love baseball more, but I love sports and when in Rome ...

My first EPL game I saw live was Fulham v. Everton at Loftus Road. Still haven't been to the Cottage and I have a "soft spot" for FFC.

But, when my future wife and I first settled in England we lived in the N1 postcode, so you can probably guess who I support.

1-nil to the Arsenal ...

Living a stone's throw from Highbury should've made me a Gunner's fan.  But alas, it made me HATE their supporters for pissing on our street, taking up parking and making a right mess of the tube station (Finsbury Park).  Grrr.

Believe me, if you went to other grounds, you will see that Gooners are amongst the best fans to live near.  I have been to many other grounds where all the local shopkeepers board up their windows at every home game because they know what will happen if they don't.

As for the mess we make at Finsbury Park...the station isn't big enough for us all, that's the problem.  It will change when it's finished, but in the meantime, don't just blame us, blame TFL!

EPL is my life..  oh how I wish it wasn't but DH and DS have it on ALL THE FREAKIN' TIME.  And if games aren't on, then there is Match of the Day and Sky sports news.  DS  knows every stat there is to know.  He's a (ah-hemm) Man U supporter.  We try to discourage it, but oh well.  We survive. 

My first live match was at Craven Cottage.  And we were graced with the presence of Mohammed al-Fayed at that game.  Loved the Cottage.  No other stadium has even come close for the homey-feel. 

Hmmm. I think there is a basic misunderstanding here. Many football supporters, being blokes, will have a wee in somebody's garden regardless of which team they support. However, I imagine there is more pee thrown about around say, Millwall FC and Chelski, than around Mr Wenger's neighbourhood.

Here's hoping nobody has a slash in your garden on the way back from a Dodgers game.

I definitely agree, I'm a now a Fulham Season Ticket holder and the Cottage always has a unique feel to it.  Especially during night games.

I am sure you are pleased that both Brian McBride and Carlos Bocanegra scored in FFC's 2-1 away win against Newcastle. Great win for the Cottagers.

As an American with a soft spot for FFC (they are my No. 2 team) I am very pleased. However the baseball statistician geek in me is wondering about a few things.

I'm pretty sure McBride has scored twice in a EPL game before. And I'm confident that two Americans on opposing sides have scored in the same EPL game (I think McBride and Claudio Reyna both scored in a Fulham-Man City match a couple years ago).

But I've gotta believe this is the first time in EPL history that all the goals for the winning side have been scored by Americans!

Way to go Cottagers. (On Match of the Day it was great to watch McBride and Boca congratulate each other not once, but twice).

Sorry to bang on about this, but I also believe this season is the first time you could compile a starting XI in the English Premiership composed entirely of American players (thanks to transfers, and promotions of Reading and Watford).

Keepers--Friedel (Blackburn), Howard (Everton), Hahnemann (Reading)

Defenders--Spector (Man U), Bocanegra (Fulham), DeMerit (Watford), Gibbs (Charlton)

Midfielders--Beasley (Man City), Convey (Reading), Reyna (Man City), Johann Smith (Bolton)

Strikers--McBride (Fulham), Rossi (Newcastle).

OK Rossi and Smith are really strikers, and wouldn't really trouble the bad French guys in the EPL But at least we could do it!

I rate Rossi very highly.  I saw him play at Old Trafford last year in their victory (boo!) over Barnet in the Carling Cup, where he scored one of the goals.  I didn't see how well or if he played on Saturday, but I know that my Man Utd supporting friends are livid he has be loaned out.

Not a great day for the Gunners on Saturday though.

Sorry for the delay Halo.  I made the trip up to Newcastle that weekend and was there to witness Brian and Carlos' goals...one of the best matches I've ever seen and Newcastle was a great cit to party in.

I was a fan before McBride or Bocanegra were signed but they helped in generating a good fan base in America.  Speaking of statistics, there a guy on FulhamUSA who is a baseball statistician.  He's been doing some stats on Fulham and such and I believe the last time McBride scored two goals was last season vs. Everton.  We won 2-nil at home.
