Those krrrrazy Dutch!
« on: October 19, 2006, 06:26:16 AM »
Have you guys seen this new coffee drink in the shops?
It's Douwe Egberts, and it's called Cafe Switch - True Kick.
It comes in what looks like a cardboard egg box, but inside are little plastic coffee pods that you sort of 'pump' with your thumbs for a minute or so to froth it up, then pour into a cup and add hot (or cold!) water.

End result is a frothy coffee drink that you dont have to add milk or sugar to.  I tried one hot this morning, and, well... it's not the worst coffee i've ever had.   It's better than instant, but not as good as Senseo!   Has a slightly funny mouth-feel... probably due to the hydrogenated thingys that are in it... people who like Coffee Mate will be familiar with that!   But apart from that, it's not that bad.

I'm going to take these to work, cos the coffee in our vending machines is absolutely vile.  But at home, i think i'll swerve it and drink my lovely Senseo.  :)

According to this website (free sample, anyone?), there are 3 flavours... the only one i saw was the 'True Kick - bittersweet and inviting' one.

That sounds kind of cool! But, of course, there's no decaf. Another example of the world's conspiracy to deprive me of new and innovative coffee products.  ;)

Thought I'd give it a try, too!

I signed up for a free sample a while ago and still have not received it.  Maybe I'll give it a go next shopping trip.
