seeking prenatal care while (visiting) in England:
« on: February 04, 2004, 10:05:45 PM »
i figured this would be a good place to ask this. hopefully someone can give me some advice  [smiley=uneasy.gif]

on february 13th, i'm coming to visit my partner for two months. since december i've been seeing my obstetrician once a month for regular prenatal care. my upcoming visit is going to interrupt my schedule of care.

at my next appointment (feb. 10th) i will be informing my doctor that i will be out of the country until at best, april and i'm going to find out what is to be routinely done at my march appointment (at what time i would be 26weeks.) at my next appointment, i am also going to ask my doctor what they advise me doing for my march appointment. .

my question is: will i be able to see a doctor or midwife for just a checkup in march? (no NHS coverage is not a problem) -if so, how would i go about scheduling this (as i am under the care of a doctor in the US.)

hopefully this question came out okay. thanks :)
[i'll ask my next question in a new post]

-trish

I'd just call the local surgery of where you'll be in the UK, explain your situation to them, and see what they can do. I have NO idea what the policy is about doing check-ups etc, what kind of records they'd give you... you'd really have to ask them. Especially because each place will have their own policy, it's not a national thing. :/
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!
