I don't even live there yet and I find myself saying bin, boot, gahrage and any number of odd things. Oh and chuffed and our version chufftied to bits meaning really chuffed. The other side of this though is that my husband often says the American word or version.  He also speaks much clearer though its mostly around others with me he is a closed mouthed Brit.

Combine this with words I have picked up from the south like ya'll and my odd accent that changes to whom I am speaking and it gets fun.  Throw in that I am bilingual and my husband is left just chuckling at some of my creations.  I get so confused at times I resort to the grunt and point method and my favorite words to my husband are, "you KNOW what I mean."

Sis in law also has me saying odd made up words so..well...I am warped. ;D and no idea who Grossman is either...

He's a television presenter / restaurant critic.  I believe he came from Boston (Mass., that is, not Lincs,) but has lived here for quite a time.  He talks with an accent halfway between Bostonian and Mayfair, rather plummy, rather drawly.  People from both sides of the Atlantic seem to hate his voice.  One of his critics described him as "suffering from irritable vowel syndrome"!

If you google for "loyd grossman accent"  (NB, only one "l") you'll find page after page of references.

Personally I think people should speak in whatever accent they want, so his doesn't offend me in the least.

A couple of weeks ago I went out on the piss with a couple of workmates and got oh so very inebriated and found myself speaking with the thickest, fakest english accent you could imagine and I couldn't make myself stop!

I'm commonly mistaken for australian and I don't have any kind of regional accent. One of the gals I hang out with is Irish and I've found myself using her little sayings and adopting her accent and she's done the same for me! But on the whole I've made an effort to keep my American accent.

Only been here a little more than a year but I find myself slipping in and out of it.

i've been dating my fiancee for a year and a half and i already talk strangely.  I can only imagine what will happen to me when i move there!!!!! ;D
