Birmingham German Christmas Market
« on: November 10, 2006, 11:13:48 AM »
For those of you who enjoy German food and drinks, Birmingham will once again host the Frankfurt Christmas market.  It will run from Nov 16 til Dec 23 from 10am til 8pm.  You will find all the typical German Christmas market goodies...schnitzel, brats, schwenkbraten, garlic mushrooms, dampfnudeln with vanilla sauce, gingerbread, and of course gluhwein!!  There are also many vendors selling their wares - nutcrackers, pyramids, smokers, pottery, etc...  So for those that have lived/visited Germany and miss it, this is a way to once again temporarily enjoy it.  It will be set up in Victoria Square around the "floozie in the jacquizi" fountain in front of city hall.  It would be easy to catch a train in and out of New Street station and have a fun day.  There will also be the carousel ride for the kids.  Have fun - Frohliche Weinachten

Absolutely fantastic to go to!  I stumbled upon it one year when I was up in Birmingham with DH.  Worth going!  (Hey, cant' find proper Bratwurst here so this is the next best thing!)

It's worth it - pretty authentic and the locals were chowing down the wurst like there was no tomorrow.
