Marrakech anyone by train
« on: November 03, 2006, 11:26:40 PM »
Hi all
I used to take the train to travel to Morocco when I was student in France 15 years ago.
I am going to take the train again this time for 2 and 1/2 days from London to Marrakech on Mid of December.

I am looking to build my retirement days on this beautiful city. Lot of European are moving now to Marrakech.

I will be looking around for Riyad ( Hotel)  like this one..

Just sharing  my dream with you..

Quite a hotel!  How does the train get from England or France to Morocco?  I assume that it connects with a ferry to cross the Mediterranean?
And the world first spoke to me in Sensurround

Holy toledo!  I've done the same trip, and I STAYED IN THAT HOTEL!!!  How creepy weird is that?  The train was great, we stayed in Paris, then overnight to Madrid, stayed in Madrid two days, then went to Gibralter, stayed there two days then took the ferry over from Algeciras to Tangier (a DUMP), quickly got out of there and then a long 10-hour train ride to Marrakech via Casablanca.

And the Riad Minouna was awesome. It was also one of the few riads that serves beer!

By the way, the owner is French from Nancy. They are about 1000 riads in Marrakesh with 60% of Riads are own by Foreigners mainly French.

You can drink beers anywhere in Morocco..
it is litter expensive in Hotel compared to Local Bars ( but very cheap compared to UK ).
