So how are things going setting up your wedding planner business in Derbyshire, Ronnie?

(I met Roni on http://hitched.co.uk)

As for me, planning our wedding for May 1st, 2007. Right now, our first choice venue is The Grand Pavilion in Porthcawl, Wales. [:)] It'll be a small thing, and then in about a year, we hope to have a second wedding back home in Southern California.

I'm going a different direction now.  I've become involved with a bridal magazine over the past few months, and that keeps me fairly busy.  I'm looking for a job with a hotel or stately home as a site co-ordinator, as well.  Hopefully am moments away from landing a gig.  I still want to set up my own business, though.

Oh, you're planning a second wedding for your first anniversary!!!  I didn't know that!  A good excuse for another dress!

xx

Wales is just too far for most of my family and friends, just as LA is too far for most of H2B's family and friends. TBH, I hadn't really thought of getting a second dress-- I'm just too excited about the possibility of getting to wear my first dress a second time. Will give me some extra motivation, too, to not let myself go. :p

Good luck on the new gig! Sounds great!!! Much less running around than being a frellance person, I would guess. Is the wedding mag gig the one with that chick on hitched that was putting out a brand new mag in all the high street stores?
It's so green!

I am getting married to my Brit on April 7, 2007.  We are heading back to PA for it (I'm already over here for work) as I have many more friends and family that are able/willing to see us married.  He is of Hindu heritage so we're going to have a Christian/Hindu wedding.  First time that small town NEPA will have seen something like this.  We will then at a later date have a party here in London for those people who couldn't make it over from here (or who weren't invited to the 'smaller' wedding) and then probably a party in India at an even later date once we visit his family over there. My parents & step-parents are partially helping to pay for the wedding (about 1/2 of the budget not including the honeymoon), we will pay the other 1/2, the honeymoon, and the party over here...it's one reason we're doing them all in 'stages'.

Got married April 9, 2006 in my hometown in Texas.  Had a small wedding on a Sunday afternoon at my church.  Hubbie's best friend and his wife came over from England so he could be the best man. They took the opportunity to make it a 2 week vacation.  Hubbies mom and sister came too.  His other siblings did not attend.  We had a get together with them once I got over here.  It was about 25 people in attendance.

We had our reception at a seafood restaurant in their private room.  My friend had picked up the cakes and delivered them to the restaurant earlier in the day.  It was perfect.  The weather was perfect.  Everyone was so happy and supportive.

I had bought a dress just for fun (fell in love with it when I was looking for a dress for my sister) and decided the night before to wear that dress instead of the "wedding" dress I had previously purchased.  We had a burgundy / white themed wedding and the new dress was white skirt and burgundy velvet top - all one piece.  The bridesmaids were in burgundy, not matching, dresses.  The guys wore black suits, white shirts, burgundy ties.  My hubbie had on a black suit, white waistcoast and burgundy tie. My son walked me down the aisle (wearing his black trousers, white shirt, black waistcoast and burgundy tie) - quite an accomplishment for a 9 year old.  He was so brave and precious walking me down the aisle.

Hubbie flew back to the UK on the 20th of April and I made it over here July 5.  In fact, today we have been married 8 months!
