Public transportation to LA consulate?
« on: December 15, 2006, 04:37:36 PM »
Don't know whether this goes here, but does anyone know whether there is public transportation to LA consulate? Won't be driving a car so I'll have to find some form of public transportation. Also, does anyone know of any hotels in the area?

Thanks!

I did a day turn around trip. I arrived at LAX and went on a shuttle bus to the consulate because I had an early appointment. I walked down to the pier while I waited. It was a long walk but a beautiful day. Then I took the bus back to the airport when I was done. Depending on your hotel and how good you are at researching your transportation you will find it is quite easy to get around. Plus it is good practice for getting around the UK!!

The Santa Monica bus (www.bigbluebus.com) will drop you off pretty much in front of the building.  I believe the #2 line is the one that runs down Wilshire Blvd.  The Big Blue Bus covers the entire west side of LA, so if you find a hotel in the area you're most likely never more than a few blocks from a bus stop.

I've heard good things about the Best Western Royal Palace Inn & Suites on Sepulveda Blvd.  My parents stayed there for a few nights, and said it was a decent place.  This was a few years ago, though, so you may want to get some current info on it, just in case it's gone downhill since.

When you're at the consulate, make sure you peek down the block and wave at my old high school. ;)
