Getting to Scotland from Gatwick
« on: December 04, 2006, 03:54:24 PM »
Ok, I am in the final stages of getting my cats over to Scotland in the next couple weeks, but I am still stuck on one aspect.....getting them TO Scotland (Glasgow) after they arrive at Gatwick.

BA suggests doing it all through them, but because they are so expensive, they are my least favorite option. They want 350 pounds to fly the cats from Gatwick to Glasgow (10x what it costs a human!)....the cats will be flying over from the States via Northwest Airlines.

Does anyone have any opinions or experience with getting their cat/pets from Gatwick to Scotland (or essentially anywhere outside of London that is not a close drive)? I guess another option is that I could cheaply fly down and train back with them, but that just adds a lot more time to their journey. BA suggested using a PetShipper, but as the person in the previous thread stated, that seems to complicate things even more and make it more expensive than doing it on my own.

Help? :)

Sorry, I don't have any recommendations. I'm going through the same thing getting my cats to Bath. If it's cost that's your issue, it might be cheapest to rent a car. Mainly I just wanted to say, if you're flying in to Gatwick on January 5th, I'll see you at the ARC! Good luck!

I haven't even considered driving in the UK yet....did you know they drive on the opposite side of the road? HOW CRAZY!? jk  :D

Might end up taking the train if I can't get them to fly for cheaper than 350 pounds on BA! Where do the airlines get off ripping you off for sending something cargo? Honestly?

British Airways is quoting me around 418 pounds from Gatwick to Glasgow....that's almost as much as I am paying to get them to London from the US on Continental! That doesn't seem right at all....

Anyone flown with pets intra-UK via BA?
