Overriding computer lock on Region (for dvds)
« on: December 28, 2006, 02:55:19 AM »
There was a thread ages ago about freeware on the net you could download that would overwrite your computer's locking in on a specific region...
Anyone know where it is (the thread or the site?)?

Many thanks!

The most popular shareware is http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm. All the downloads have a 30 day trial, after that it's not too expensive. As far as I know (goes for my laptop drive anyway), for most drives after 2001, you could change 5 times and that's it... you need a software solution like on that link. I tried some software which was supposed to unlock the hardware after the 5 times, but didn't work on my Sony  :(  But if someone comes up with how to do it, then I'll be happy too. If not, you have 30 days free trial to play with  :)

This only works for PC. Does anyone know of a similar program or hack that will work for Macs?
