Italy Bound (Hopefully)
« on: February 01, 2007, 12:16:47 PM »
I'm finally in the UK and I haven't posted anything for ages (how rude of me). Anyway, I hope you are all well and I have a question (as usual). My son will be visiting me in the UK this summer and my brother-in-law may be getting married in Italy while he's here. Do I need a letter of consent from his father to take him to Italy from the UK? I was too lazy to look it up online so I thought I'd ask you all first.

Thanks!

xxx Alz  :)

I'm not sure about Italy. But you do for France.  Last year my mother came to London with my niece (her granddaughter) and we went to Paris. They have different surnames, so they had to bring a notarized letter from my sister (my niece's mother) explaining to whom it may concern that my mother had permission to take my niece out of the country and travel internationally.  They asked for the letter at the Eurostar customs desk in France, and also at the US airport when they checked in.  Certainly wouldn't hurt. Better safe than sorry.
