How do I find a Dentist?
« on: January 19, 2007, 08:23:09 PM »
I hear it is impossible to find an nhs dentist so I am willing to go private.
Where do I start?  Can I get dental insurance?

We live in Aberdeen

when I was looking for an nhs dentist I just entered my post code and called EVERYONE on my list.  I finally found  a dentist but it wasn't easy!!  It's not impossible though!

Call your local GP or walk in centre and ask for the PALS (patient liaison thingie) tel. number.  They will put you on a list for the NHS dentist.  It is much less expensive for adults than private, also if you are pregnant and for twelve months after the baby is born, the treatment is free.
There are numerous private plans and private dentists, just try the phone book. Some private dentists have plans as well.
