HP American Sauce
« on: March 19, 2007, 03:28:41 PM »
So I was browsing the sauces and salad dressing aisle in Morrison's today and came across HP American Sauce. Has anyone ever heard of this or tasted it before?

It was with all the other HP sauces and next to the bbq sauces, so I have no idea what it might be like. I was a bit stunned seeing it as I can't think of any really "American" sauce, unless you count ranch dressing.

Maybe it's something like A-1 Steak Sauce? Other than that, I'm baffled.  ???

When I searched for it in a search engine it came up with someone saying they thought it must be like that, but it didn't seem very sure. I may buy it and test it out just for the heck of it. It's just got me too curious.

We have some of that. Hubby says it's not really like A1 but it's the nearest he's found. It's quite tangy, it tastes to me like tomato sauce mixed with pickle relish.

This reminds me of American chip spice. I always get confused. I always guess they throw the word American on so people over here are like, "It's like Florida!" I dunno though. I don't know what this American sauce is.
