Can any of you recommend any good Uni's in the south east of England? We are moving summer 09 and are looking at Uni's with English and Journalism Majors for our daughter.
Thanks
Kath

Bath Spa University isn't necessarily in the south east, but I would recommend their creative writing/english department. I've heard a lot of great things about it. At my international orientation I met a guy who just arrived from Vancouver to get a master's in creative writing because he said it's one of the best departments for it. They offer on campus and off campus housing for 1st year students. Personally I would select the off campus housing as the campus is fairly remote, but it's a beautiful location and Bath is a wonderful city. With two universities here there are TONS of students.

I live in Canterbury and my husband works at the University of Kent.  I don't know anything about English and Journalism there, but you can check out the website: http://www.kent.ac.uk.  If you can find ratings for the departments, a 5 is best, but this is a research rating, and I don't think it necessarily suggests anything about undergraduate teaching.  Also look at the University of Sussex in Brighton: http://www.sussex.ac.uk.  To my knowledge, these are the only 2 universities in the Southeast, however it would also be feasible to commute to London, which would open a lot of other possibilities.  Where in the Southeast are you planning to move?

There is a complete list here of universities and institutions that offer Journalism degrees or diplomas.
