Easter baskets?
« on: March 22, 2007, 05:39:45 PM »
This may belong somewhere else, so excuse me if I have not put it in the correct location.  I am wondering if someone knows where I can get a basket, like what is used for Easter baskets in the US.  This may sound really dorky, but one of the things dh and I like to do for each other is show each other the traditions we grew up with.  Keeping this in mind, I thought I would put together an Easter basket for him, since he never had one.  I can obviously easily get the other parts, but I am having trouble finding a basket.   Maybe I am just not looking in the right places?  Thanks in advance.  :)

I haven't found one yet in the UK. I would have my mom send easter candy but I already have her sending me press n seal and girl scout cookies. I'm sure you can buy them online or have family send stuff?

Here's a couple I found on a UK website... there are a few that aren't too, too expensive... but then again I don't know the pounds to dollars comparison yet.

Awesome!  Thanks someday!  I knew I was just making it harder for myself than it is.

Happyutopia, thanks for the thought.  I think I'm going to fill it full of the stuff in the stores from here, I was just looking for a container (basket)!  :)  Enjoy the cookies though!

I think there was a thread about Easter baskets either last year or the year before at this same time!

I just found some really cool bags at Paperchase that I'm going to use instead of baskets. They're felt and have felt animals stuck on them - bunnies, chicks, etc. I ended up buying that cat ones (not very Easter-y) because all the important people in my life are cat freaks.

I found them for the girls in charity shops.  DH had to ask the staff in one.

I think I say this every year.  :)  Right about now, most supermarkets will have flowers such as mums that come in nice baskets for not too expensive a price.  Buy that, remove the flower pot and voila.  An Easter Basket.  :)

Empty baskets are everywhere!   Ikea, Asda/Walmart, Homebase, big Tescos.... you shouldnt have a problem finding baskets.

The ASDA website says they have beskets for "collecting those Easter eggs in" so might be worth a look.  Garden Centres are good, Ikea, Wilkenson's, Woolies, card shops at times, etc!

Okay, so this really is me being dense.  I had looked at Tesco because we go there, and a little bit in our local Woolworths, because I thought those would be the two likely places.  I didn't think of the emptying the flower baskets though.  The problem is we do have an Ikea nearby, but with no car it can be a bit impossible to get to the one in Leeds.  This can really limit the shops I can get to, to those on bus lines (such as Tesco) or on the high street.  Thanks for all the suggestions.  It does really sound though, like I was just being dense!   :P

Have you looked online? I found this place: http://www.smitcraft.com/scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=344

And eBay has a few, as well. Just search for "Easter basket" (they even have bags of shredded "grass"!).

persephone -- If you can get yourself into Leeds city centre, I'd try Wilkies, Woolies, Pound Store, Pound Stretcher, and the Leeds City (Kirkgate) market. :)

And I am 100% certain you could find something nice for Easter in Thorntons, and/or there are least 1 or 2 arcade shops that are posher than Thorntons. ;D
