Lufthansa airlines?
« on: March 26, 2007, 08:07:29 AM »
I'm going with a group from my school to Paris, and I jsut noticed that our flight over is with Lufthansa airlines. I've never travelled with them before. Are they ok? I usually pick northwest just because I know I'm going to get my own little tv on the back of the seat in front of me and I've never had a problem with them. (I can't stand Delta..the last couple of times I flew with them it was awful!) Any info would be great!  :)

I've flown with Lufthansa a few times to various destinations and sorry to say they are one of the worst!

That's what I was afraid of! I didnt have any choice in the matter.  :(  Guess I'll just take some Benodryl and sleep through the whole thing.

i found the seats ok.  the food HORRIBLE.  the stewardess firm but pleasant.  can't remember about the inflight entertainment... perhaps go online and see if they have individual TV's.

are you flying from the UK to paris or the US to Paris?

We flew Lufthansa once.  Food from Germany to the US was pretty dire, but we had some very nice sandwiches on the flight from the UK to Germany.  I don't remember much, because it was 6 years ago, but I do seem to remember the wine flowing freely during dinner.

I didn't have time to write more earlier sorry.  I flew with them a few times between 1999-2002.  They lost my vege meal more than once and were pretty rude about it. I had a really bad experience when a plane was grounded in Nigeria, they drove us round and round Lagos for hours before dumping us a filthy hotel,  but I think that was more to do with the local staff there, so you should be ok. I found the seats cramped and there were no TV screens in the back of the seat.  When I did get fed some of the food was quite good, I remember a nice hot breakfast involving hash browns.

We are flying from the US to Munich, then on to Paris. I'm flying with a group from my school (getting credit for going to Paris!!) I've heard bad things about them from other people (lost luggage that accidentally went to Africa instead of Europe).

We had no problems at all with the actual service.  The unusual atmosphere on the flight is what threw us.

Oh yeah I forgot they lost my luggage too, it didn't make it onto my connecting flight!

I've flown with KLM a couple of times and they are so strict! The woman wouldn't even let me hold my (small) jacket in my lap during take off and landing. And she basically forced me to take water even though I already had my own bottle with me. Carrie, is that what your experience was like with  Lufthansa?

I don't remember them being particularly strict.  They may have offered a lot of water, but I don't remember them pushing water on me.  I always (used to) fly with a great big bottle.  I think the strange part had to do with tipsy passengers, rather than the staff.  The flight from the UK to Germany was perfectly normal.

Whatever you do, avoid the pasta! I've flown Lufthansa many times from LA to Munich via Frankfurt. The seats are cramped and I have had very unpleasant experiences with the flight attendants. One assumed I didn't understand German and said something quite rude about me to another flight attendant in front of me...she was in for a surprise when she realized that I understood and that Peter speaks German.
Another time, I was checking in for a flight from Rome to Munich and I asked, very politely, for an aisle seat near the front of the plane. When I boarded the plane, which was nearly empty, I had been put in the back row by the window.  :-\\\\ That was just mean.
One positive thing... their flights tend to be on time.
