Quality Furniture Stores in the UK with Large Selections
« on: February 20, 2007, 10:55:33 PM »
I plan on moving into an unfurnished flat in Liverpool by July.  I should be living there for quite a long time, so I'm looking for a sense of permanency.  My question is: I would like to find a nationwide British furniture retailer online that specialises in quality merchandise.  I need to find a retailer that has a huge selection to choose from, all at a reasonable price.  I'm looking for quality and a large selection.  Thus far, all I've come across for furniture stores are small local retailers with a small selction of mediocre products to choose from.  In other words, is there an Ethan Allen style furniture store here in the UK?

I've been here three years and I've yet to find what you describe!!!  The closest I've come is John Lewis - but they're more Macy's than Ethan Allen.

If you do find something, please let me know!  I think you'll find lack of selection is pretty common in the UK. I do like Cargo though (www.cargohomeshop.com) and there is always Laura Ashley.

Try barkerandstonehouse.com  (link removed at the owner's request)

They're primarily a Northern company, but they deliver nationwide.  I can vouch for their quality -- I'm sitting on one of our new leather sofas right now!  :D

DFS isn't too bad. They have the sofa we want. Other stores have the same sofa but DFS is the cheapest. Too bad the salesman was like a rabid dog, tapping his foot drooling over the thought of a sale. Barker and Stonehouse is a really good store, pricey but very nice.
