Exchange Rate
« on: March 23, 2007, 11:39:46 PM »
I have been waiting to see if the exchange rates will go down, I need to move a small chunk of money to my British Account for a rental deposit etc..  So I have a few weeks to sort this out, I was about to trade on xe the other day when it was down to 1.92, but I stopped myself, now we are up to 1.97 (1.99 on xe)! Any advise, just do it or wait a while.  I won't shoot anyone if they are wrong, I am just not good at anticipating what it'll do..  Any advise appreciated!
Thanks

Hiya

Seeing as you need to use the money for something as important as putting a deposit down on a flat, I'd say do it asap, not to worry about ER fluctuations for the time being - getting a place sorted and a roof over your head is more important !

So you don't feel too bad, some analysts are predicting the dollar will fall further and even a little way beyond the £1/$2 USD mark ! whether or not this happens remains to be seen - all economies have down time and then swing back the other way - so that presents the question of when! which no one knows! - so just get your money sorted now, before the potential of further falls.

Dennis,

Thank you for posting this :)
I'm trying to convince my parents to 'help me' invest in a flat here (in near-Central London as well), and though initially they'll be losing money because of the exchange rate, in the long-run it's only PROFIT!

Can you suggest where in fine print (FT or other source) I can use to show them what you've stated?

Thanks again!
