International Postal Money orders
« on: April 05, 2007, 04:03:12 PM »
Um, do these exist here?  I just tried to buy one, and was told it was impossible.

I need to send US money to my cousin for his wedding... So, any other ideas are fine.

As far as I know you can still get them from a bank. NB they are called International Money Orders here. The postal bit might confuse people.

Ah, OK.  I buy them (IPMO's) at the Post Office in Canada and Japan... and they're different from money orders from banks.

I'll just have to make sure your suggestion is easy to cash in the US.  Some people sent me money orders from banks for my wedding, but it costs about 20 pounds/40 USD to process each one in Japan... so I ended up sending most of them back.
