I sent off for my provisional license 2 weeks ago this morning.  Of course there has been a holiday weekend in the middle, but i'm starting to get slightly antsy in that i've had no response from them.  The most frustrating thing is that they have my US passport!  I sent it registered/signed for mail so I know it arrived safely, but I keep checking my HSBC account to see when they cash the cheque but it's just not happening.

I'm just wondering how long other people waited for theirs to come back and at what point I should be concerned?  The site indicates 3 weeks so maybe i should give them a few more days?

I'd give it a bit more time. I only got mine in the mail a week ago, and that was 3-4 weeks after sending it in.

You'll have to give them more time -- the double bank holidays will have slowed everything down.  You know it's arrived there, etc., so just hold tight.  I'd probably start getting really concerned at the 4 week mark.

I know the feeling though....I HATED sending my passport away!

I sent for mine about two months ago.  It took almost the three weeks it said it might take.  And the money didn't go out until after I got my passport and documents back.  With the holiday weekend, you might want to give it a bit more time.  I know I was really nervous because two days after I sent it, the dvla received the mail bomb!
