Excited about Food in UK
« on: May 01, 2007, 11:32:05 PM »
Hi we won't be in England to live for a few more months but I love to cook and I can't wait to go the my local shops and buy groceries.  All the lovely meat, can't wait to cook the pork chops they leave the fat and skin on, lovely.  THey trim too much off here in the states.

The lovely cream and cakes and biscuits...I am sure there are things I will miss, like, Mexican food but as other posters have said it is very easy to creat mexican food and all the spices are available.

I will probably gain a ton of weight just off bacon sandwiches and sausages with colemans, and sausage roll and steak and mushroom pies and fish and chips of course...ok I think I might be hungry!

Fresh fish!  It's one of the best things about living in the UK, I think.  I've never nerved myself to try cooking skate...have decided to try it next time I'm back.

I live in New England, doesn't quite compare.

I love Cadbury's chocolate. Inexpensive but a million times better than Hershey's!

I like the fish and chips. Greasy but yummy.  :)

I like Frosties better than Frosted Flakes. I also like a good English Breakfast.

I love the roast dinner and Yorkshire Puddings.

Yes - I'm from Long Island and miss the fresh seafood!

But roast dinners in general are yummy!!!   There's something so cozy about a pub lunch!

I agree! I lived in Rhode Island in the US, so had no shortage of fresh fish there. But once you're here, you'll find yourself falling in love with a whole lot of different types of fish. It's heavenly! And very fresh!  ;D

I love the Asian food here!

Cheese!

Pub lunches!
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

Yummmmmm!

Organic Salmon.  I always hated the taste of salmon until I had this type in the UK.
