fast trains into london
« on: May 10, 2007, 05:09:27 PM »
How do I go about finding which residential areas just on the outskirts of London have fast-train service into London (I want to have a reasonable commute). I have searched online but either don't know where to look or don't know how to search for it.

I think I have answered this in your other thread.  It's not really something you can easily do.

The only way I can think of is to go to www.tfl.gov.uk and download their map which includes local train routes as well as tube routes.  Then, when you pick a station, go to the site I gave you earlier, and see how fast the trains are.

Do you know where in central London you will need to get to?

oxford circus, which is nice because multiple lines go through there. I"m just trying to find a nice place to raise a family within a 45 min commute or so. I also figure the more residential/suburb type places will be more kid-friendly and have more child minder options. thanks for that map. I've got a couple of other maps but missed that one. I'll go back to the tfl site and see what I can muster up.

I'd recommend somewhere on a train to Victoria, Kings Cross or Euston, then, as they are on the Victoria line.  Kent and Surrey services go to Victoria, including places like Kingston, Richmond, Hampton Court and Sutton, in about 28 minutes.

Near Richmond Park would be great for kids!
