Where to put condenser dryer?
« on: May 11, 2007, 01:38:23 PM »
We were just given a condenser dryer.  We have three choices of places to put it and I'm wondering which would be best.  I've heard that they still give off quite a bit of moisture.

We have a cupboard that has a dryer vent hooked up in it.  We have space under the kitchen counter, next to the washing machine (no windows that open - leads into the conservatory).  Or we could put it out in the conservatory (lots of windows that open).

Any thoughts?

Ours doesn't vent any moisture at all.  It all goes in the bladder.  I think put it anywhere and if you have a space in the kitchen, put it there!

our shed is wired for electricity, so we just put it out there.

Ours is in a washroom with the washer... but it does let off a lot of heat and hence condensation... despite ours having a tube for the water to go down a drain.  We have to keep the window open though.

Some condenser dryers are better than others when it comes to reducing the amount of water vapor that they release into the air.  If you already have a cupboard with a dryer vent fitted, then a standard dryer would be the best option in my opinion.  As you've acquired the condenser dryer for nothing though, I'd be inclined to use the cupboard and install an exhaust fan on the existing dryer vent to help draw any humid air outside.

We put ours in the dining room - it's the only room with any free wall space, and as the fridge/freezer is already in there, anyway....  ???

It hasn't given us a single problem with condensation - it's next to a huge window (that we keep closed because of the cats) and even when we run it for hours at a time, it keeps cool and dry.  Hopefully yours will take after ours! :)

It was a hand-me-down from my in-laws.  DH says it is horrible for the moisture it puts off.  I guess we'll try it in the cupboard or under the counter next to the washer (after the washing machine gets here on Thursday).  If that doesn't work, it's going in the conservatory.  Since we're in a rented house, I don't really want to put an exhaust fan in.  We'll see what happens.
