Having a party, good place to get party platters
« on: May 15, 2007, 10:43:14 AM »
We are having 50+ people here for Josh's party and I need to get organized. Can anyone recommend party platters from any of the major Supermarkets?  We are thinking Sainsburys or Waitrose since they are our locals, but we will do any of them really.Any other suggestions would help as well.

Thank you.

I think Waitrose is a really good bet. If they are handy to you I'd go with them. Wish I had one more locally!

If that doesn't really float your boat, do you have a good deli in town? I've also found that some cafes do platters - you know, the kind that have lots of different salads and sandwiches and baked goodies. We had one in Exmouth that I almost used for a small lunch on my wedding day. The only reason I didn't was because the B&B turned out to be able to do it for us. But the cafe had great stuff so I was pretty bummed!

I looked into Waitrose for an event I just planned for work - they are the only supermarket I would bother with for platters.  I noticed that the delis and some of the nice local caterers weren't any more expensive though.  Might be worth a look/ask around.

M&S is usually a good bet as well.

You know I didn't even know anyone had replied. Sorry not to respond sooner. Weird :)

Thank you guys.  I'm looking on-line at Waitrose and they have good stuff.  Does anyone think this cake is to girly for a baby boy?

It's the only one that feeds up to 50 people.

I don't think it's too girly, but would you have better luck if you went to the store itself? You might get to choose something more boyish if you speak to the bakers?

We have a Morrisons that does nice platters and I think the cake is adorable and not girly at all!

We don't have a Morrisons nearby (Or at least that I have ever seen) I've wanted to check them out though.

Thanks, Rich likes it and Josh squealed when I showed him, so we are odering it :P
