We just watched a 2004 documentary called
Control Room last night. I had never heard of it before - it was one of Steve's picks for our DVD club, but it was really a thought provoking piece relevant to the Iraq conflict. It's about the Qatar based news agency, Al Jazeera, and their interaction as journalists with America's Cent-Com in the region. Here are a couple links regarding it:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0391024/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Control_RoomI really liked that it shows
real people who are
there, from
more than two perspectives of the conflict, having civil conversatons with each other & a dialogue about the issues at hand.
Interestingly enough, it appears that the US Marine Corps press officer who features prominently in the documentary (a hunky, all-American apple pie looking kind of fellow) later on left the Marine Corps & joined the staff of Al Jazeera International.
