Glasgow at Night - recommendations needed
« on: June 22, 2007, 04:38:54 PM »
We're going to be in Glasgow two weeks from today for just the night, approximately 5pm-10pm...any recommendations as to something to see or somewhere to eat during that time?  Thanks!

I'm not sure what sort of think you're looking for but one of our favorite things to do in Glasgow is sit outside one of the bars at Royal Exchange Square, get a bottle of wine and just people watch as everyone walks by. The Square is all lit up with twinkle lights strung up between the tops of the buildings and its gorgeous in the evening.
I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

Just my opinions...  :)

The best Indian restaurant in Glasgow is Mother India ... it's Indian home-style cooking, with no funny artificial colours.

The best Chinese restaurant is Wong Ho... best Chinese i've ever tasted, but the service is a bit overbearing... topping up your glass every 5 minutes, etc.  ::)

Not sure if i would recommend Royal Exchange Square as it is a gathering place for the goths and skate kids, who occasionally have brawls there.

I was going to suggest Mother India!  I loved it the last time I was in Glasgow! Yum!!!

On my first trip to Glasgow I thought it was a hole. Grungy and everything locked up by evening. I found the cinema and a pub for the night and got back to my accommodation asap. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

I was there two weeks ago and I saw a lot more and it just had a better vibe downtown. Lots of sidewalk cafes and a more open feeling. I had a nice time. The square even delighted me they way the sunset reflected off the buildings.

I am not sure how I missed most of the shopping areas the first time I went!! I was impressed!!

I admit I did take a fancy to it this last time and even would consider going back.

I like the feel of Edinburgh though for my favorite Scottish city. I don't even think I have a favorite English city!!
